Family, friends ready to welcome home NC pastor freed from Turkey

BLACK MOUNTAIN, N.C. — Outside his parents’ home in Black Mountain, a sign and balloons are ready for Pastor Andrew Brunson when he arrives home in western North Carolina.

Brunson was jailed in Turkey since Oct. 2016 before being placed under house arrest in July after being charged with terrorism.

At the conclusions of his trial, the Turkish court found him guilty but decided to release him back to the U.S. due to time served.
