HICKORY, N.C. — The felony charge of death by motor vehicle against a teenager involved in a fatal crash has been dismissed, according to Hickory police.
David Engelmann, 17, was driving Aug. 31 when he hit a curb on Sixth Street NW causing a 2006 Subaru Forester to flip several times and come to rest in a field off the road, investigators said.
According to police, Engelmann's passenger -- 17-year-old Jay Robertson II -- was rushed to Frye Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators said they need more time to complete their investigation into Engelmann. They will then submit it to the district attorney.
