Final public meeting on illegal dumping scheduled tonight

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The final meeting scheduled for people in Charlotte to hear more about two illegal chemical dumpings near city water plants is Thursday night.

Last month, someone put PCBs into a sewer near a grocery store and three days later someone put ethanol into the water at the Sugar Creek Treatment Plant.

The chemicals did not get into the drinking water but police are still trying to figure out who dumped them.

Thursday's meeting is at 7 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church on Woodlawn Road.
