HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. - A car plowed into a Huntersville Starbucks Sunday morning while dozens of customers were inside, Huntersville Fire Department said.
A customer was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to officials.
Officials do not know what caused the driver to lose control of her white Lexus at the Starbucks on Knockando Lane off of Sam Furr Road. The woman had not yet entered the store, fire officials said.
The driver is not hurt and Huntersville authorities are working with her to discover the cause of the crash.
Witnesses said the impact sounded like a bomb and sent glass all over the store. The car was wider than the door and took the front wall out.
A Huntersville fire official said the design of the store seats customers along the side wall so no customers were seated by the door.
Fire crews have removed the car and placed a sign on the building that declared it unsafe.
