Firefighters rescue injured worker from uptown construction site

CHARLOTTE — Firefighters rescued an injured worker Friday morning at a construction site in uptown Charlotte.

The fire department was called around 10 a.m. to a building on South Graham Street -- between Bank of America Stadium and Truist Ballpark -- where they had to perform a “high-angle” rescue.

That is when rescue crews are hoisted up to reach the patient and bring them safely down.

Officials said the worker was stuck on the 25th floor and it took about 20 minutes for 16 firefighters to safely lower that person to the ground.

They were then loaded into an ambulance and taken to the hospital. It is unclear how badly they were hurt.
