Follow the yellow brick road: NC’s Land of Oz expands fall festival to three weekends

BEECH MOUNTAIN, N.C. — Excitement and nostalgia always surround the mysterious Land of Oz theme park in Beech Mountain, North Carolina. Although it was closed for many years, the park, which initially operated from 1970-1980, has been opening its gates to host special events several times a year since the late ‘80s.

Last year, the park expanded its annual fall festival to three full weekends.

This year, Autumn at Oz will be held Sept. 9-11, 16-18 and 23-25.

The festival will feature characters from the classic story, live performances, arts and crafts vendors and other activities.

Admission is $55 plus taxes and fees. Children ages 2 and younger are admitted free.

Pro tip: Parking for the Land of Oz is at Beech Mountain Ski Resort. A free shuttle bus service will be available to take festivalgoers to the park or you can purchase a ticket to ride the resort’s chairlift. Lift riders must be at least 36″ tall.
