IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. — The Iredell County sheriff confirmed a former deputy has been charged in a fatal crash that killed another deputy.
The sheriff said Justin Betts is charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle in the death of Corporal Bill Wood.

Investigators said Betts was on duty last month when he turned into a parking lot off Taylorsville Highway and crashed into Wood’s motorcycle.
Wood was off duty at the time. He was killed in the crash.
Betts resigned from the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Tuesday.
