FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A former Fayetteville doctor working in Nepal when the second deadly earthquake rattled the country Tuesday survived.
The Fayetteville Observer reports Mark Miller, who offered his services as plastic surgeon to survivors of the first earthquake to hit Nepal April 25, is fine after Tuesday's disaster, according to his mother, June Miller.
June Miller says her son was heading into a remote area east of Katmandu.
Miller was selected to serve on a Christian Broadcast Network humanitarian and disaster relief team. He served on a similar team in Iraq during the Gulf War and had been volunteering since May 7 in Nepal.
Tuesday's earthquake was measured at 7.3-magnitude and killed at least 42 people. Last month's disaster was measured at a 7.8-magnitude and more than 8,000 were killed.
