Former Vanderbilt football player Cory Batey breaks silence on Dr. Phil show

On Monday Dr. Phil interviews ex-Vanderbilt University football player Cory Batey, who will talk for the first time about his crimes against a female Vanderbilt student and his trial.

Batey, 21, was convicted of aggravated rape and aggravated sexual battery of a female Vanderbilt student.

In the interview, Dr. Phil speaks with Batey at the Nashville Criminal Justice Center, where he awaits sentencing. Batey faces up to 145 years in prison.

Dr. Phil asks Batey how he could have committed those crimes and about the alleged cover-up that followed.

"When I look at the events of that night, and what happened to that girl and I look at your conduct on that tape, I have to ask you, what the hell were you thinking?" Dr. Phil said.

Dr. Phil also asks Batey about his mother, who has worked at Vanderbilt for more than three decades: "Cory, did you fail your mother? Did you let her down? Did you break her heart?" Dr. Phil said.

Batey's former teammate Brandon Vandenburg was convicted with Batey for sexual acts committed against a student when she was unconscious in Vanderbilt's Gillette Hall dorm in June 2013.

Watch the exclusive interview on Monday.
