Statesville says Gander RV can fly giant American flag, but must pay fines

STATESVILLE, N.C. — The star of CNBC's "The Profit" has settled a yearlong dispute with the city of Statesville over a huge American flag at the reality TV star's recreational vehicle store.

The giant 40-by-80-foot American flag can continue to fly after Gander RV and the city of Statesville came to an agreement on Monday.

The battle over the flag has been long-lasting.

The CEO of Gander RV said the massive flag would not be taken down, even though it violated a city ordinance.

Eyewitness News has followed the battle over the flag since last summer.

City Council members and the mayor agreed Monday they would change the city's ordinance to allow the flag while Camping World pays more than $16,000 in fines and legal costs.

The council voted against that in June, but unanimously agreed to it this time, just ahead of Tuesday's elections.
