CHARLOTTE — Charlotte Area Transit System riders should expect several Gold Line service changes in November because of special events and road closures in Uptown Charlotte.
CATS will modify or suspend portions of Gold Line service during the Veterans Day Parade, Novant Marathon, and Thanksgiving Eve Parade.
The transit system says it will not operate a bus bridge during any of the service changes because of event-related road closures. Riders can use nearby CATS bus routes to reach destinations along the Gold Line corridor.
For the Veterans Day Parade on Saturday, Nov. 7, Gold Line service will operate only between the Charlotte Transportation Center and Sunnyside Station from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Service between the Charlotte Transportation Center and French Street Station will be suspended. Riders can use bus routes 1, 7 and 8 as alternatives.
For the Novant Marathon on Saturday, Nov. 14, Gold Line service will not begin at its normal Saturday start time of 8:06 a.m. Instead, service will begin at 11:30 a.m. CATS lists routes 1, 7, 8, 9, 14, 15, 17 and 27 as alternate bus options.
For the Thanksgiving Eve Parade on Wednesday, Nov. 25, Gold Line service will again operate only between the Charlotte Transportation Center and Sunnyside Station, this time from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Service between the Charlotte Transportation Center and French Street Station will be suspended. Routes 1, 7 and 8 will serve as alternatives.
CATS says additional rider alerts with detailed travel information and alternate bus options will be issued closer to each event.
