Principal’s message to parents says gun found at West Charlotte High School

CHARLOTTE — A gun was found on West Charlotte High School’s campus on Wednesday, according to a message sent to families.

Principal Donevin Hoskins said there were no threats made and no one was hurt. Police are investigating the incident.

“Please speak with your students about the seriousness of bringing inappropriate items to school. It is a violation of the law and the CMS Code of Student Conduct to bring any weapon on campus,” Hoskins said in the message.

Officials said there have been a total of six guns found at West Charlotte this school year and 11 found at Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools total.

No other details have been released at this point.
