CHARLOTTE — A hearing to approve the sale of Northlake Mall on Monday didn’t get any closer to finalizing the deal.
According to our partners at The Charlotte Observer, Judge Adam Conrad didn’t approve or deny the sale on Monday. He said he would make a “timely decision” on the case but didn’t provide a deadline.
Lawyers for the victims of a 2022 shooting are trying to stop the sale, Channel 9 reported last week.
Hull Properties, which owns Carolina Mall in Concord, wants to buy the mall for $39 million. The real estate group owns 35 malls across the East Coast.
In August 2022, a shooting killed Armani Spencer and left Bianca Brown paralyzed.
Spencer’s mom sued, saying mall security never responded to the shooting or called 911.
Lawyers for the victims believe the sale of the mall could affect any possible settlement.
