Here’s how you can support local workers for National Nurses Week 2020

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Wednesday kicks off National Nurses Week, a weeklong celebration honoring nurses and health care professionals for the tireless work they do.

This year more than ever, nurses need support from the community as they work the frontline in the fight against COVID-19.

Here are some ways you can help nurses in Charlotte and across the state:

Feed the Front Line Charlotte is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting hospital workers with fresh food from local restaurants in the Charlotte area.

The meal delivery program is two fold: providing support to local Charlotte restaurants while feeding the healthcare workers risking their lives to fight the virus.

Local restaurant partners include Amelie’s, Mama Ricotta’s, Midwood Smokehouse, Mac’s Speed Shop, Laurel Market, Rhino Market & Deli and The Open Kitchen.

Another program designed to help hospital workers and restaurants across the state is Feed the Soul.

The North Carolina Healthcare Foundation (NCHF) has created an emergency response fund to make meal deliveries possible.

To date, the program has delivered more than 10,000 meals to staff at 13 hospitals in Asheville, Charlotte, Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill.

The program is now expanding to Greenville and Wilmington in eastern North Carolina.
