Highway Patrol recruiters head to NC Chick-fil-A restaurants to fill trooper positions

MORGANTON, N.C. — The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is getting creative in its efforts to add more state troopers.

Recruiters were at eight Chick-Fil-A restaurants across the state Friday hoping to find candidates for highway patrol school.

The Highway Patrol says it’s trying to fill 200 openings statewide.

On Friday, recruiters spoke about the $44,000 salary while in training and the potential to reach just over $70,000 within six years.

“Everyone goes to Chick-Fil-A I think sometimes, so we’re going to see a lot of people through here hopefully,” said Trooper Chris Casey. “So we’re just going to get to talk to a lot of people and shake hands and answer any questions that people have. So we’re hoping for a good turnout.”
