GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — Hospital leaders in Gaston County have decided to pull the plug on their controversial new slogan.
The New Caromont Regional Medical Center unveiled "cheat death" as its tagline Thursday.
The hospital said it was meant to promote a healthy community by preventing illness in the first place.
Eyewitness News partners at the Gaston Gazette received a statement from the hospital CEO addressing concerns.
It stated, "We know that you are all on board with our goal to move Gaston County to the number one healthiest county in North Carolina and that is what is most important, and what cannot be sacrificed for a two-word tagline."
He said Caromont will rethink the new slogan.
