Hydrant inspections in 2 towns could cause discolored tap water

Two northern Mecklenburg County towns, Huntersville and Cornelius, are testing and doing maintenance on fire hydrants.

It’s done every year to ensure they’re working.

During testing, water pressure may briefly drop, and the water may change color.

If that happens, firefighters recommend running cold water for a few minutes until it clears up.
