Intruders force their way into Myers Park home with man, daughter inside

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Two women intruders forced their way into a home Monday night on Selwyn Avenue where a 15-year-old girl and her 58-year-old father lived, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said.

"She's shaken,” the father, who did not want to be identified, told Channel 9. “I'm still shaken."

The perpetrators, who said they had a gun, were able to get into the home and demand money after one of the two who lived there opened the door around 10:30 p.m.

The father gave the two women $200 and said neither he nor his daughter knew them.

The area does not have much violent crime and residents were stunned to hear about the home invasion.

"It's scary,” neighbor Tara Ryan said. “It makes you feel unsafe and makes you wonder about your own safety and the safety of your friends and family."

No injuries were reported and no arrests have been made.
