Judge sets bond for Stanly Co. man accused of double murder

ALBEMARLE, N.C. — A judge set bond to allow a Stanly County man accused of murdering two people to get out of jail.

Albemarle police arrested Gary Sells, then 72, in 2009 after investigators accused him of killing his girlfriend and her son at a home in Albemarle.

Today, Sell was still behind bars under a $250,000 bond.

Investigators said he shot and killed 73-year-old Shirley Rummage and her son, 48-year-old Rickey Lowder, in their North First Street home.

Police said Sells was the ex-boyfriend of Rummage and lived in the house where the victims were found.
