Country music producer Kyle Jacobs, husband of Albemarle-native Kellie Pickler, dies

ALBEMARLE, N.C. — Kyle Jacobs, a country music producer, and songwriter, who co-starred with his wife, singer Kellie Pickler, an Albemarle native, in a CMT docu-series has died, ABC affiliate WKRN reported. He was 49.

Jacobs died by an apparent suicide in their Nashville home on Friday, according to authorities.

Nashville Metro police released information to WKRN that stated officers responded to a 911 call at a home on Sneed Road just before 1:30 p.m. Friday. Once inside the home, investigators found Jacobs dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound in an upstairs bedroom/office.

Pickler told police she awoke a short time earlier, did not see her husband, and began looking for him. After she and her personal assistant were unable to open the door to the upstairs bedroom/office, the assistant called 911, according to police.

Jacobs, a music producer, has worked with artists including Garth Brooks, Kelly Clarkson, Darius Rucker and Tim McGraw. He won an Academy of Country Music Award in 2014 for his work as a producer on Lee Brice’s “I Drive Your Truck,” CNN reported.

Jacobs starred alongside Pickler, an American Idol star, in the docu-comedy series “I Love Kellie Pickler,” which debuted in 2015 and proved to be ratings hit for CMT, CNN reported. It ran for three seasons.
