CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A new section currently under construction at Charlotte Douglas International Airport will include an upscale travel lounge accessible to certain American Express cardholders, slated to open next fall, according to city documents.
Charlotte Douglas will be among a handful of locations for American Express’ Centurion Lounge, which is known for its high-end elements such as chef-crafted cuisine and signature cocktails, high speed Wi-Fi and separate workspace areas as well as a computer bar. Select locations also include features like spa service, shower suites, a conference room, a wine-tasting area and more.
Charlotte City Council approved a 10-year lease agreement this week for American Express Co. to add at the Charlotte airport a Centurion Lounge, which will take up nearly 13,300 square feet of an expansion project that is underway between concourses D and E at CLT. Under terms of that lease, American Express will pay $525,701 in rent with a 10-year lease valued at $10.5 million.
