STATESVILLE, N.C. — One person died in a fatal car accident in Statesville on Friday evening, officials say.
The N.C. State Highway Patrol responded to a crash on Island Ford Road at Old Miller Road around 6:40 p.m. They found a 2013 Honda Civic crashed into a 2003 Dodge Ram when the driver of the Civic tried to turn left from a stop sign, according to Statesville officials.
Christopher Alexander Rodriguez, age 18, was the driver of the Honda. He died at the scene due to injuries from the crash. Officials say Rodriguez was from Troutman.
The driver of the Dodge was not injured.
Highway Patrol said the initial investigation does not indicate that neither drivers were under the influence or impaired, and no charged will be filed.
