Local company makes desk shields for schools nationwide

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — Engineers and employees at Polytech Industrial in Huntersville are ramping up work to build a new tool for schools across the country.

The Gazuntite Desk Shield aims to block germs between students in a classroom, because the coronavirus can spread through sneezing, coughing and talking.

“The desk shield fastens solidly to the desktop and only if the teacher wants it taken off, they can pull with some force and get it off,” said Dan Cedrone, company president.
