UNION COUNTY, N.C. — A local doctor’s office is remembering the life of a Union County mother who was killed by her ex-husband earlier this month.
“She was just one of those people who you know, didn’t know a stranger. Very friendly very easy to get along with,” Dr. Nicholas Lukacs with Queen City Ear Nose and Throat said.
Erica Thomas was killed while picking up her daughter from a relative’s home.
Deputies said her ex-husband Joshua Laney, who she had a protective order against, shot her before taking his own life.
>> Channel 9′s Genevieve Curtis spoke with Thomas’ work-family about how they are stepping up to help her two children, in the video at the top of this story.
