Local nonprofit works with private sector to give families a home during COVID-19

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — COVID-19 is expected to push a tsunami of working families onto the streets and one local non-profit is stepping up to help in a unique way.

Philip Payne, the co-founder of the Lotus Campaign, has been working for two years, to help people without a home find affordable places to live.

“Years ago homelessness was driven by mental illness and substance abuse. Now, it is changed to primarily economic,” Payne said.
