CONCORD, N.C. — A local pharmacy is going above and beyond in the race to vaccinate.
Moose Pharmacy, which has stores from Concord to Monroe, told Channel 9 it’s getting 900 Johnson & Johnson doses this week and plans to administer the shots at two community events this weekend.

The Concord location usually gets about 100 doses of the Moderna vaccine each week, so the shipment of Johnson & Johnson gives the pharmacy the opportunity to vaccinate more people in the community.
“We’re super excited we’re finally getting the one-dose version of the COVID vaccine,” owner Joe Moose said.
We haven’t heard of a Johnson & Johnson delivery in the state since the first week of March when more than 80,000 doses were shipped -- mostly to local health departments and hospitals.
“We asked for it several times from the state,” Moose said. “It came quickly. We’re ready for the challenge.”
