Local veterans group puts focus on finance careers

Frank Van Buren was flying Blackhawk helicopters for the U.S. Army on the Greek island of Cypress when he first heard about investment banking. Today, he’s a managing director for middle-market investment banking at Wells Fargo & Co.

Neither Van Buren nor Perez had early insight into a career in finance, but now both are making the path into a finance career easier for other service members.

Perez launched the Charlotte chapter of Veterans on Wall Street in 2017. The chapter was the first outside of New York City. It now boasts more than 30 member companies and over 300 veteran members who connect on their shared experiences of service and career.
