Man accused of stealing women's credit cards after meeting on dating app

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Jeremiah Alexander, 27, is accused of using a dating app to lure in women, then during the date he would steal their credit cards.

A woman, who didn't want to be identified, said one of her family members met Alexander on Plenty of Fish last week.

She agreed to meet him at the Church’s Chicken near Johnson C. Smith University.

"You can choose to meet them in a public area just like she did, and you can choose to meet them during daylight just like she did, and you can still be a victim," the woman said.

Alexander got the victim out of his car, but she left her purse behind, police said. He obtained the credit card and went on a shopping spree.

He's facing several identity theft-related charges and investigators said it's not the first time he's targeted women.

"He's a predator,” the woman said. “He's dangerous."

Police said it's important to be careful when meeting someone.
