CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A 6-year-old boy who was involved in a crash Friday in north Charlotte has died.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said Elvin Alejandro Suazo died Monday from his injuries at Levine Children's Hospital.
Detectives have charged Olvin Manuel Tejada-Salguero, 28, with involuntary manslaughter in connection with the crash.
Tejada-Salguero did not have a drivers’ license.
Police told Channel 9 that surveillance video showed Tejada-Salguero running a red light at 4:40 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Craighead Road and North Tryon Street.
A pick-up truck then collided with Tejada-Salguero's van, seriously injuring the 6-year-old boy, who was rushed to Carolinas Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

A man who works nearby told Channel 9 that it was his instinct to run over to help after the wreck.
“As soon as I heard the bang, I saw the black car bounce off that one and go that way and I just ran right across the street, because I saw someone was in the front seat,” said Randy Garcia.
Investigators said the child wasn't properly secured with a seat belt or a child seat.
Tejada-Salguero was also charged with having no operator's license, reckless driving, red light violation and misdemeanor child abuse.
He was not hurt.
