CHARLOTTE, NC — The Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department says a man killed his girlfriend in a Charlotte motel room Saturday.
An ambulance was called to the motel in the 300 block of Archdale Drive just after 3 p.m. for an overdose. But when officers got there, they discovered 40-year-old Jameriane Laverne Ardrey had physical injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives took 41-year-old James Mangus Brewer into custody at the motel. They say the couple got into a fight and Brewer killed Ardey. He's now charged with murder.
He's being held at the Mecklenburg County jail without bond.
