CLEVELAND COUNTY, N.C. — A man was killed after a single-car crash in Cleveland County on Saturday, troopers said.
The Highway Patrol was called just before 2 p.m. Saturday about the crash on Long Branch Road near Pinewood Drive.
According to troopers, Bradley Mills, 39, was driving south on Long Branch Road when he drove off the right shoulder. He slammed into a utility pole and then into a van trailer parked behind a business in the area.
Mills died at the scene, authorities said.
Troopers initially said that a child’s seat was found in the vehicle but no child was found at the crash scene. Gaston County officials have since confirmed that the child in question was found Sunday afternoon and was never missing.
Officials said the child had been dropped off with a family friend before the crash.
