CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police said they tried to pull over a white car early Monday night because the man behind the wheel was wanted on several charges, mostly domestic.
Officers said the man, Monteith Willis, took off in the car, but they did not chase him.

Later that night, around 9 p.m., a police helicopter was in the air for a different reason when they spotted the car.
The helicopter followed the vehicle until it crashed into a black SUV at South Boulevard and Poindexter Drive.
Willis got out and ran, but police caught up to him and arrested him.
Paramedics took the driver of the SUV to the hospital, and they said that she is expected to be OK.
