CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police arrested the gunman accused of fatally shooting a man outside a business in northeast Charlotte last month.
Officers said 36-year-old Antonio Prez Meadows shot and killed 53-year-old Kenny Ollemi around midnight on Aug. 27 outside Classic Graphics off IBM and Classic Drive.
Officers said an employee of Classic Graphics came outside and saw the car crashed in a picnic area and found Ollemi shot inside.
That person called 911 and MEDIC arrived, performed CPR and rushed Ollemi to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Investigators said they believe Meadows shot Ollemi who was sitting inside his car waiting to pick up a friend from work.
Meadows has been charged with murder, discharging a barreled weapon into occupied property inflicting serious injury, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, failure to remain at the scene of a crash when death or bodily injury occurs and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Officers spent the night talking to other employees who may have seen or heard anything. There are several other businesses in the area.
"So there are employees leaving the business who we've been speaking to, also potential for video surveillance we are working to obtain," CMPD Major Ryan Butler said.
Meadows is being held at the Union County Sheriff's Office, where he was already in custody for an unrelated charge.
Police have not said what led to the shooting.
