Man hit, killed on Independence Blvd. identified

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating a pedestrian fatality that happened early Saturday morning near the 2700 block of Independence Boulevard.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police have released the identity of a person who was hit and killed on Independence Boulevard this weekend.

Police said Traquan McKoy, 23, was hit and killed Saturday morning.

He was trying to cross the road in a no-crossing zone, police said.

He was hit by multiple cars.

Police are still looking for the driver of the 1999 Volkswagen Jetta.

The driver ran away on foot after the crash, police said.
