Baker said he was walking to his fiancée’s home on Sept. 5 along Highway 601 in Union County when two cars hit him.

The first car's side view mirror knocked him over. The second car ran over him.

“I was losing a lot of blood. A major artery had been cut by a bone that had been broken," Baker said.

NC Highway Patrol troopers said both drivers got out and saw Corey in the road, but the second driver took off.

That person could be charged with felony hit-and-run.

No one has been arrested and although troopers have a description of the driver, the case is growing cold.

“We need for him to come in, clear his conscience, of what went on that night," Trooper John Burgin said.

Corey’s fiancée and family have been forced to watch him in pain as he has undergone four surgeries.

He considers himself lucky to be alive but has a message for the driver who ran him over and hasn’t come forward.

"You nearly took my life for no reason. You could've stopped man, and gotten me somewhere quicker, and I wouldn't have had to lay there so long, and maybe it wouldn't be so bad," Baker said.

Troopers have received some tips but none have panned out.

They said they're looking for a white man about 6 feet tall driving a dark colored sedan, possibly a Honda civic.
