CHARLOTTE — Monifa “Mo” Drayton is a step closer to being the new face of District 2 in Mecklenburg County.
District Two had long been represented by Commissioner Vilma Leake, but the ABC Board chair and political operative beat Leake Tuesday night in a major shakeup.
Leake has been an elected leader for three decades in Mecklenburg County.
Drayton will face Republican Angela Edwards in November.
