MORGANTON, N.C. — City water users in Monroe can no longer wash their cars at home or fill up swimming pools.
The city just entered stage two drought conditions, which makes several restrictions mandatory instead of voluntary.
Previously, Monroe announced it was pumping millions of gallons of water from Rock Quarry Lake to help ease the drought’s impact.
Officials said lake levels across the system have not been able to keep up with the demand.
