MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Mooresville approved a 12-month moratorium Monday night on new data center development proposals.
The pause gives the town time to review its zoning standards and make any necessary changes to address potential impacts on the community.
“Many jurisdictions across the state have recently adopted moratoriums on data centers and amended ordinances to specifically regulate their development, based on several concerns including electric capacity demand, water usage, and noise,” officials said in a news release.
