Morganton, Burke County leaders debate fate of Confederate statue

MORGANTON, N.C. — Morganton city and Burke County leaders are discussing the future of a Confederate memorial at the courthouse.

City leaders in Morganton recently sent a letter to the county offering a place for it at the Forest Hills Cemetery.

However, leaders in Burke County said that move would break the law.
