MINNEAPOLIS — Multiple civilians are dead after at least six people, including two Minneapolis police officers, were shot Wednesday afternoon in downtown Minneapolis, according to reports from KTSP.
The shooting was first reported around 4:50 p.m. near Nicollet Avenue and East Grant Street.
Police told KTSP that they were called to an apartment building near 15 East Grant Street, where a shooter opened fire as officers entered, according to a city hall source.
One officer was shot in the stomach and another in the leg. One officer was in surgery Wednesday evening, while the other suffered non-life-threatening injuries, according to KTSP.
The FBI is assisting local authorities. FBI Director Kash Patel said the agency will provide “any and all resources necessary.”
Gov. Tim Walz told KSTP that state officials are on the ground supporting local law enforcement.
