CHARLOTTE — A murder suspect is heading to trial.
James Evans pleaded not guilty to shooting and killing Shanika Gamble along Magnolia Hill Drive in June of last year.
Court documents say Evans and Gamble were arguing over money before the gunfire.
Evans was convicted of kidnapping in the 1990s.
No trial date has been set.
