Museum of Illusions opens in Uptown Charlotte

CHARLOTTE — The Museum of Illusions, which operates 38 locations in 25 countries, is set to open in Uptown Charlotte on Dec. 9. It will be the Queen City’s first new museum to open in more than a decade.

The Museum of Illusions Charlotte will offer more than 60 interactive exhibits, including some that have never been previously displayed.

Visitors can expect to see mind-bending optical illusions, holograms, brain-teasing exhibits and interactive illusion rooms based on math, science and art.

Guides will be on hand to explain the illusions and assist with photography.

The 6,300 square-foot museum will open on the ground level of the Ally Center at 601 S. Tryon St.

The museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Tickets cost $24 for adults ages 13 and older, $20 for children ages 5-12 and $22 for seniors ages 60 and older. Children 4 and younger are admitted free.

It is recommended to buy tickets in advance in case the museum reaches capacity.

The museum does not have any designated parking. Parking is available in the Ally Center’s parking garage or public parking in front of the museum.
