NC bill allows groups to provide childcare without critical safety measures in place

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — With so many schools going remote, parents are in need of more childcare options.

A bill just passed by North Carolina lawmakers helps with that, but it also allows some community groups to provide childcare without having critical safety measures in place.

A state official told us the new bill has a loophole that doesn’t require the groups to comply with the same parameters that a licensed childcare facility would have to adhere to.
