NORTH CAROLINA — A program designed to protect North Carolinians from domestic violence defenders is being taken over by the state.
The state budget eliminates the department that oversees ankle monitoring technology.
Lawmakers are ordering the State Bureau of Investigation to run the technology.
As many as 1,200 people were being monitored across 63 of North Carolina’s 100 counties.
