NCDOT: I-77 toll lanes will not be completed by January deadline

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Drivers frustrated with toll construction on I-77 will have to deal with it for even longer.

NCDOT confirmed to Channel 9 the lanes will not be completed by January 7.

Part of the northbound lanes will open as scheduled at the end of the year, but the southbound lanes will not.

In the video at the top of this web page, Eyewitness News anchor Blaine Tolison learned why no one will be fined for the delay.

The company building the 26 miles worth of toll lanes moved the deadline back to a year from now.
