CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Outraged residents confronted state leaders Thursday night about a sex offender home placed in their east Charlotte neighborhood without their knowledge.
Six sex offenders live at the end of a cul-de-sac on McAlpine Lane and neighbors told state Rep. Rodney Moore they're concerned about their children's safety and their plunging property values.
“As of December to today, my property value has dropped $22,000,” one homeowner said. “I now owe more on this house than its worth.”
Moore didn't offer an immediate solution but said he'd visit the home next week and talk with neighbors.
He said he wasn't taking the situation lightly.
