Residents upset over naked neighbor in north Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Outraged residents are fed up after seeing one of their neighbors in the Cardinal Glen neighborhood repeatedly standing naked with his front door wide open.

They've called police, but police said they can't do anything about it.

Now, neighbors said they want to change the law.

Neighbors said the man stands naked in his doorway, and it has been going on frequently for years.

"I saw him again on Thursday or Friday," Pecolia Threatt said. "I was taking the garbage bag around the back, and I just happened to look and he was standing in the door butt naked."

Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department officials said that since the start of the year, they have had four calls for similar types of incidents on this block.

But police said they can't charge him, because it is not illegal since he is still technically inside of his home.

"This has been going on for a while. I don't know why they haven't done anything," Threatt said.

Police said they are looking into additional options to try and resolve the issue.

Meanwhile, neighbors with small children are forced to live with it.

CMPD said it consulted with the magistrate and police attorney on the issue.
