The restaurant is at 1524 East Blvd., formerly occupied by Lebowski’s Neighborhood Grill. — The unlikely story of Ladybird Taco starts with a career musician, his then-pregnant wife and a search for Texas-style breakfast tacos.

Gabe Scott, a professional player of the hammered dulcimer, embarked on a mission to handcraft the perfect tortillas and fill a culinary niche in his hometown of Nashville, Tennessee. The music industry veteran calls now himself a restaurateur, and Ladybird has grown a following across the Southeast for its all-day breakfast and lunch tacos. He’s partnered with Brooks Veazey on the concept.

“It’s not just tacos in Texas anymore. It’s Ladybird Taco wherever we go, because we do it the same way,” Scott says.

Adds Veazey: “What we’ve found is that people need a place that is consistent, reliable and can just be a gathering place where you can take any type of meeting.”

Ladybird’s newest restaurant opened on Oct. 25 in Charlotte’s Dilworth neighborhood. The restaurant is at 1524 East Blvd., formerly occupied by Lebowski’s Neighborhood Grill. Hours will be daily between 6:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.

“We like to be part of what we call enduring neighborhoods,” Veazey says. “The first thing we want to do is build a connection with the neighborhood and make sure we are fulfilling our duty.”
