New law in SC: Hands-free driving enforced with fines, points

Texting while driving

SOUTH CAROLINA — Starting Saturday, if you’re driving in South Carolina and police catch you holding a phone, you will get a ticket.

A new law makes it illegal to hold or support a device with any part of your body while driving.

You can get a $100 fine. If it happens again, that will cost you $200 and two points on your record.
