Man arrested following SWAT situation in Gaston County

GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — A man facing several felonies after police arrested him following a SWAT situation in Gaston County will face a judge Tuesday.

Police took 20-year-old Seth Ervin into custody Monday night after officers from four different agencies swarmed a home on Linwood Road.

Investigators said they responded to a domestic situation where someone with a weapon was possibly holding a woman hostage.

“We activated our regional SWAT team and not long after we were out here we had contact with the female inside and she came out and we were able to affect an arrest,” said Travis Brittain, Gastonia Police Department’s Assistant Chief.

Police arrested Ervin on several unrelated charges, including breaking and entering, identity theft, fraud and possession of cocaine. They have not said if he’s been charged in connection to the SWAT situation.

Overnight, Channel 9 found that Ervin has a long criminal history in Gaston County. Since September of last year police have arrested him on dozens of charges, including financial card theft and drug charges.
